MA, DMFT, Founder,
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, License No. MFC51248

Overview

Toni Dunning works with individuals, couples, and families who are navigating trauma, dysfunctional family systems, relational wounds, anxiety, shame, and spiritual pain. Her therapeutic style is warm, relational, collaborative, and grounded in compassion, honesty, and meaningful growth.

Who She Helps

  • Couples who feel disconnected, stuck in conflict, or are working to rebuild trust

  • Families facing parenting stress, relationship strain, adoption or foster care transitions, or major life changes

  • Adults dealing with anxiety, trauma, shame, stress, or unhealthy relationship patterns

  • Clients wrestling with Christian faith, spiritual abuse, or disconnection from the church

  • Helping professionals, ministry leaders, and faith-based clients who feel overwhelmed or burned out

Approach

Toni uses a trauma-informed, systems-oriented lens that recognizes how family experiences, attachment wounds, faith backgrounds, and relationships shape a person’s life. She aims to create a space where clients feel genuinely known and accepted while also being gently challenged toward healing, healthier patterns, and deeper connection.

Training and Experience

Toni has been in practice since 2006 and is fully trained in EMDR. Her background also includes Theraplay, play therapy, sand tray training, Seeking Safety, and TF-CBT, which support her work with trauma, codependency, family dysfunction, relational pain, and faith-related healing.

What Sessions are Like

Sessions with Toni are collaborative, compassionate, and goal-oriented. Depending on the client’s needs, therapy may include emotional processing, family systems work, attachment-focused insight, communication and boundary work, practical coping skills, and faith integration when that is meaningful to the client.

Personal Note

Toni enjoys reading, taking walks outdoors, and watching baseball. Her work is guided by the belief that people are created for connection, healing, and growth, and that therapy can be a place where restoration becomes possible.
