Overview

Danica Velez is an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist who works with older adolescents, young adults, and adults who are navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, and major life transitions. She brings a warm, compassionate, and collaborative style while also offering honesty, insight, and practical tools for change.

Who She Helps

  • Adults navigating anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm

  • Individuals experiencing relationship and communication difficulties

  • Clients working through trauma, grief, or major life transitions

  • Young adults struggling with identity, confidence, or self-esteem

  • Clients seeking healthier coping skills, emotional regulation, and personal growth

Approach

Danica balances empathy and emotional support with accountability, practical growth, and meaningful feedback. She tailors therapy to each client’s needs so the process feels authentic, grounded, and collaborative rather than overly clinical or one-sided.

Training and Experience

Danica is an AMFT with 6.5 years of experience and training in EMDR. Her work centers especially on trauma, while also helping clients develop insight, stronger coping skills, healthier communication patterns, and greater confidence in everyday life.

She earned her master’s degree from Azusa Pacific University and practices under the supervision of Dr. Toni Dunning, DMFT, LMFT (MFC51248).

Sessions with Danica

Sessions with Danica are supportive, individualized, and goal-oriented. She combines emotional processing with practical tools and coping strategies so clients can build insight, improve relationships, manage stress more effectively, and create lasting change outside the therapy room.

Personal Note

Danica enjoys staying active, exploring new coffee spots, spending time with family and friends, and making room for creativity and self-care. Her work is guided by a strong belief that healing happens through authenticity, compassion, and connection.
